Some Reflections on Racism

Racism isn't born, folks, it's taught.  I have a two-yr.-old son.  You know what he hates?  Naps!  End of list.  ~Dennis Leary

One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings. ~Franklin Thomas

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality....I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word. ~Martin Luther King Jr.

To live anywhere in the world today and be against equality because of race or color is like living in Alaska and being against snow. ~William Faulkner, Essays, Speeches and Public Letters

Abortion and racism are both symptoms of a fundamental human error.  The error is thinking that when someone stands in the way of our wants, we can justify getting that person out of our lives.  Abortion and racism stem from the same poisonous root, selfishness. ~Alveda King

People know about the Klan and the overt racism, but the killing of one's soul little by little, day by day, is a lot worse than someone coming in your house and lynching you. ~Samuel L. Jackson

The Osage Window

The Osage Window
The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska, Oklahoma is also known as the "Cathedral of the Osage".  Built mostly from generous donations from the Osage parishoners, and their great love of God and the Catholic faith, the Vatican commissioned the Osage Window (the only window in the world at that time) to depict actual living Osage Indians with the Jesuit Priest Shoenmakers.
